DESTIN, FL Pirates- ATTENTION!!

A good friend of mine was on vacation over the 4th and lost his wedding band there in Destin. It was only a 10K band, but with much sentimental value and needless to say, his wife is wearing him out over it!

I told him Id put the word out and he gave directions:
"You cross 98 where Avalon Blvd intersects, go to the Avalon beach access, and walk straight forward to the Gulf of Mexico. I lost the ring in about 2 feet of water near the shoreline. I'm counting on you!"

Here are the mapquest coordinates:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=%5b1%2d46%5d%20Avalon%20Blvd&city=Miramar%20Beach&state=FL&zipcode=32550&country=US&location=aEWwuHNt7MzPemTYHdcl%2bNjLRA0MiXj58ibDK%2bJqI%2fgaYKEHZXME%2fCkT%2f9dYNGg%2fq42kAoB1rEIYNNUG232lPheyLZOnCsXnryJdRTLbsqhWd1E9HzQE6OF71c4EYbpbQHubAB9fLp9qv5XZl59VeuLMI2axK5eZ&ambiguity=1

I have little more than that to go on and I know that is precious little. But a midsized 10K band is a trifling thing and if one were to turn up magicallly, what a happy bloke he'd be ;)

If anyone has any luck with this, please PM me with details.
Thanks beyond thanks to all you salty surf dogs for your attention.

Am leaving for Destin the 21st for a week. Will be keeping my eyes open. I am going to do nothing but MD in the water!! HH JT

That's great!! Ill tell Jesse

While youre at it, how about a report on that Tiger Shark in the salt mode, there in Destin??

You got it, I am tired of hearing " its a great fresh water machine..." and NOT hearing about its capabilities in salt. I will be happy to post the good / bad / and downright ugly truth when I get back. I will try to do some text posting and reading of the forum from the cell phone should I find something cool, but the pix will have to wait till I get back to a real computer, since I cant get it to post from the mobile browser. I hear Destin recently got some new sand, do you know of anywhere nearby that didn't get the shiny new sand treatment? HH Joe

I dont know doodlyu about the area.
But I know Sandman on TreasureNet swears by the T-Shark in the salt. His instructions are simple:

- Switch to the SALT mode
- Ground Balance as usual
- Adjust SENS as needed to eliminate "chatter"... more is NOT always better
- Hunt

10-4sandman is the man!! He is the reason I bought the TS. Right now I have sens at about 75% but is subject to change when I hit the water. I will post the settings and all other data on the TS along with pics of all the finds (Trash included) when I get back. I can post text from the cell phone, so if I find a 1 carat diamond engagement ring I'll let all of you know before my GF snags it!! HH Joe

2' of water could be anywhere depending on the tide.

I found a wedding band last week that had been lost for a week. It was in almost the exact location I was told it got lost in. I asked the right questions and found it.

I learned a hard lesson with the Tiger Shark lately. Factory SENS setting is roughly 50%. Much more and the unit gets squirrely. Be advised.

Okay, here's the deal. I didn't really expect anyone to find a mans 10K ring, stand there holding it going, "I'll bet this is the one that guy was talking about on findmall," and then send it to me, to give to Jesse.

People can be nice, but c'mon, lets get real! We just wanted to toss the word out there.

What I would have really liked to do was to give him one of mine, but I'm new at this whole water thing. This is the first year I've seriously pursued it. I don't have much of a collection and have nothing that will work.

Ah, well, he's impressed that someone would even listen to his story and he says thanks for looking. He sends a rousing 'arrrrrgh
to all you surf pirates.
