Derby Saturday and Cinco de Mayo Sunday

Shot back over to the park that I hunted for an hour Friday evening, no silver but got a 1905 British Penny, a 1920 buffy and a few wheats. Next I stopped by a house that I had been eyeing for a long time and got permission from the owner Bob (super nice guy) - house dates back to the civil war. Not much doing there, lots of fill over the years I fear, but I managed a 1941 Washington and a cool Martin Luther token.

Hunted a couple of places this afternoon - couldn't get out until after church and related activities - couldn't put my coil over any silver to save my life - but oh well - I had a good time. I got 3 wheats (1919 and 2 1920's), a 1921 Canadian, 2 Indians (1871 and 1891) and my first 2 center of the year - an 1866.

Great finds Doc how you get the nickel so clean. To bad the 71 don't look like the 91.

Sube - the 2 buffies that I got here this weekend were both in good shape coming out of the ground (nice sandy loam) - all I did was hit them with a brass brush in my Dremel tool.

I wish the '71 looked as good as the one you got!

Nice finds, Doc. That 91 IH looks great. Did you also clean that with the Dremel/brass brush?

James - I used the boiling peroxide/toothpick method first on the Indian - then a very light buff with the brass brush, just to get the dirt out of the tight spots.
