depth?

On coin sized targets it is approximately 1 1/2" - 3" deeper sometimes more and on larger targets the difference will alot greater
I have read someone pulling 1oz+ nuggets at over 16 - 18" with the 300/12" coil, and it is very sensitive to small items which is a bonus.

I hope this helps

John

Many factors come into play but the rule of thumb is depth = coil dia. , so the difference in depth would be around 2-1/2" (as sweeper60 pointed out) between the stock (9-1/2") coil and the 12" coil . As I said this is a GENERAL rule and a lot of factors may skew these #'s significantly such as target size, composition, ground matrix, EMI, trashiness, etc, etc....

Scott's last statement carries a lot of weight............... results will vary, sometimes greatly depending on your ground (mineralization and trash) and hunting style (swing speed). My best advise is to try the coils that interest you and see how they work in your ground. If you buy used coils, you have little to lose if you don't like them.
