Oh yea, it will go deeper than 5 inches. When properly set, and depending somewhat on the soil matrix, you could hit a quarter at depths exceeding 8 inches. Dimes at over 6-inches, in my moderate soil. Beings you're familiar with White's, let me compare the depth of my X-Terras to my 6.59 kHz White's. As deep as the XLT or XLPro. And deeper than the QXT or IDX. In my soil, the 950 coil on my White's (XLPro) does get about 1/2-inch more depth on a dime, than the MF 9-inch concentric coil on my X-Terra. But the MF 9-inch X-Terra gets over 1.5-inches more depth than my ProScan 800. The 6-inch X-Terra concentric will hold it's own with the 5.3 BlackMax or 5.3 Bullseye. And the 6-inch X-Terra DD will outhunt the 4 X 6 Shooter DD any day of the week. But then again, I like the 350 Snooper better than the Shooter, anyway. I like White's, I like Minelab and I have both. I swore several years ago that I would never be without at least one XLPro. Fortunately, I was able to buy another new one from a White's dealer in June of this year. Unfortunately, I haven't taken it out on a hunt yet. Just too busy using my X-Terras and Etrac. Those tones, and notch discrimination, are invaluable tools! JMHO HH Randy
