depth test whith silver umax in my ground

I took the sivler to my test garden whear i have dimes buried at 4" and 6" and 8" i could pick up the 4" dimes well but the 6" dimes was a problem barly got a signal, now my cibola got a much stronger signal on the 6" dimes a signal i would dig so it seems the siver is not as deep , now i had the 8x9 on the cibola and i have the 8::" concentric on the silver somthing tels me it may be the 8" concentric gets a bit less depth than the 8x9 so i apoligize about saying the silver is deeper than the cibola whith the 8" coil thats not the case in my ground no detector has hit the 8" dimes yet or even made a sound on them im thinking of geting a 8x9 coil or a 5.75 the 8"is not doing it for me

Your ground in your test garden is giving you some resistance.

The Cibola can handle ground conditions a little better than the Silver, I think due to the wider acceptance range of the Cibola.

In mild ground conditions and undisturbed soil the results may be somewhat different.

When you get in the field, that will be the real test. The Silver usually shines under normal conditions. Give it a chance. It will probably do a good job in producing finds.

Cheers,

The 8X0 MAY make a difference. The smaller coil will lose depth, not gain, but is much better for slipping thru trash and working tight places.

gunner that's what i have been trying to say. i have a test garden with dimes at the same depths. the cibola barely hits on the 8" one:bouncy: , but enough for me to definitly dig which i think is great .now my ground conditions are extremely mild though. i don't think i could have hit that with the silver, maybe with the 12x10 only. either way tesoro rocks:super:

Besides the stock coils, i have the 5.75s. I haven't quite convinced myself on the 12 x 10 coil yet. But every time I see someone mention it, it does get me thinking about it. Here we go again

I have a Vaquero that gets the same results. Ground conditions can change. You may go out there one day and get a signal on the 8 inch dime. Then another day get nothing. I can't explain it??????

This is only a guess but I'm thinking it's got something to do with ground moisture, temperature, and humidity in the air. The change is not a great deal but I have found that some days are better than others.I have buried a dime at 8 inches and on certain days I can pick it up. In the hot dry summer a 6 inch dime gives an iffy signal

i still like the silver umax i think its going to do great in the parks and knowing that the 4" coil gets less depth is a good thing i would only use it for clearing up the first layer anyway so thats a good thing very good i think the ability to turn down the machine and get less depth is as important as getting deeper in that wise the vaquero must be very good
