depth test whith M-6 and the 5.3 eclips coil

today i got my 5.3 back and did a depth test, I have an M-6 well i found that 6" was max and what im saying was good strong signal but fads fast to 7" now i have found dimes on the beach at 8" but the signal was just a wisper and i had to move sand away to get closer then i got a good signal i find the 5.3 can get a bit eratic in multi target zones but it seems as good or better than the stock coil i really like the 4x 6 for parks it has better target seperation and is quieter less noisy than the 5.3 ok enuphfh

Hey Gunnar is the 5.3 you use just for a M6, or will the XLt 5.3 work???

your settings, in order to get a better picture of what you're relating. Remember, the Target Volume is tied i with the Sensitivity control on the MXT and M6 so it would be good to know what the Sensitivity (Gain on MXT) and Discriminate settings were. Also, did you GB and lock the setting or let it auto-track? Finally, were these results from targets you located that were naturally buried, or were these freshly buried coins, which can make quite a difference?

I know the depth isn't going to be to some of the exaggerated extremes we've all read from time to time, but I now that with an MXT and M6, using the 5.3 Eclipse from White's (6

Thanks Pap....

Monty. i was using the M-6 , and i had the gaine at 100 and disc at nickle i placed a nickle flat on ground and placed 2x 4s flat and stacked them so that 4 boards was 6" and was getting strong signals but one more board signal was very faint doing this i find the 4x6 shooter got 4.5" the stock 6" the 5.3 eclips 6" the 6x10 dd got 5" could you find a coin deeper shure'' i have found dimes at 8" whith the 5.3 in beach sand but the signal was very faint but good strong signals 0-- 6" and MXT or DFX may be a difrent storie because they can hunt using a threshold hum the M- 6 can not im wondering now how deep a 6" excelerator would do in the same kind of test if anyone has one i wish they would do the test for me

Good questions Gunnar. I would like reading the answers too !!!!!

The 5.3 is a excellent coil and does have good depth, but in a trash filled area where multiple targets are very close to another, the DD coils ( Eclipse 4x6 or Excelerator 4.5X7) can pick out the targets much better ,because of the pattern of the coils detection area.
I mostly use the Excelerator 4.5X7 coil in the playground areas and it separates the coin signals from the trashy items very well. The deepest I have dug up a coin (dime) in the woodchips is 7 inches.
The particular play area is on a slight incline and one side of the woodchips is 3 inches deep, and the other side is about 7 inches deep.In my opinion the Excelerator 4.5X7 coil, will detect a little bit deeper than the 4X6 White's coil.

Gunner,
You are doing great posting the comparison of the different coils you have. It is very informative reading.
