Depth question for Excal user's

Crenman

Just curious what the average depths are that objects are being pulled from.
Please tell what Year model and make excal you have.
I am curious if there is a difference between the new ones and old ones
I have one of the new excal 2 1000 that was made in Malaysia and i love it i find tones of stuff people miss and some of it is deep.
Most of the stuff is 2 to 6 inches very little around 12" a few time i have doug 14 to 16 inches but that was on Quarters. I hunt in dis1 /volume max/ Sens at 6-8/Thresh just a soft hum, and in am/pp for the cleaner areas to see what i can pickup deep.
Just wandering about every one else.

Thanks
HH

That's what Excall's do. Be glad you are digging shallow targets because if you keep using that machine there will be plenty of deep targets. Mine is an Excall II and is going on 2 years old and has been very good to me and my wifes jewelery box. Congratulations for making your choice you won't regret it. HH:minelab:

I'd like to hear what sensitivity setting on the Excal 800 using the old 8" BBS coil people find to give max depth. If it follows suit with my GT then max sensitivity might actually give you less depth on targets being blinded by the ground matrix being too hot, even if the machine seems to be running stable. Reason why I'm asking is my friend using his Excal 800 always run at max, just out of Auto. When I told him what I've found with my GT in my coin garden and in the field sticking a coin in the ground (that 2PM seems to give the best response on targets at fringe depth) he didn't seem to be buying it. I told him I don't know how are ground minerals on the great lakes are yet but that they seemed to be high in mineral content with my first few hunts, and that if that's the case then at least with the 10" coil around 2PM would probably give max depth. Now, that can also be very different for that tiny "8 inch" (7 1/4" ?) BBS coil. Perhaps it sees so little ground that max sensitivity won't be an issue with blinding it to targets even in high minerals. Just the same, I figured I'd ask you guys what you find seems to give you best depth on the old 800 Excal with this coil. If it's something well less than max sensitivity then give me your best arguement so I can print out the responses and show him, or otherwise confirm for him that running it at max like he does is indeed the best for depth on a high mineral fresh water beach. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Critter,
I have tested the same thing but with the 10"
I Max is just to much. I also read that in one of clives books and tested it and it hold tru where i hunt. 6 is where mine rests i will reun a few test at 2 and check it out.
Thanks for you input.
