depth on the safari what is it deepest ????

I agree with your assessment. The depth guage on my Safari is only accurate with coins. Anything smaller or larger is a guess. My old Garrett machine would show the size of the target and was much more accurate. That is what I miss most when I am using my Safari. Some have said they could tell just about how deep a target was by the sound, but I sure can't! Onus

My deepest coin with the Safari was a memorial penny at 10". Some pennies have come in at around 7-8", so I think the potential for deep silver coins is definitely there. I just haven't run over any yet. I do get other junk items deep too, but of course who wants to count those? lol

The depth bar on the Safari still has me kinda stumped. When I get over a coin and it measures about halfway I know I'm going to be digging a six inch hole, but sometimes it lies to me and the item may just be a few inches into the plug. So I don't really rely on the depth gauge too much. And like Onus said, I can't really distinguish by the tone yet whether or not an item is deep or shallow.

I just got mine today.Wow this thing is hard to learn every thing I dug was deep and junk.I have used whites xlt and Garrets.
This is going to be schooling for me. I wish it came with a DVD.Or a nice blond tutor.lol:rofl:

Hi !

Here in Europe, our coins are larger than US ones.

Not unusual, on wet sand to find 2 euro coins between 12 and 14 inches.

BUT sometimes you get a non repeatable signal in the higher numbers. Depth gauge almost fully blanked.

JUST PINPOINT THE AREA !!

If the unit then locks on something, a deep target is hiding.!

Found several deep goodies this way.

Remember the depth scale is accurate for coin sized targets !

I'll bet they have Blonde tutors in Europe as well. Wet sand... Ha ha... Try digging in sodded earth. With sand you can just sift it and find your item.. Tough to do with earth, stones, pebbles, rocks, etc....

Minelab doesn't list a Blonde accessory as of yet. Guess the detectors to new...

Still learning the symphony...

I am finding that on the average targets are a little deeper than what I am use to digging. However a few zinc cents have read at about six inches and were in the grass at the top of the plug! I went back over them too to be sure there wasn't a deeper target and got no signal. Maybe just a pecularity with the Safari or perhaps a bug that need to be fixed by Minelab? Onus
