Depth on AT Pro pinpointer more accurate than original signal?

I've noticed I'll get a deep signal (6-8")then when I pinpoint with the detector it says it's 2 inches. Is this normal? I know I could dig them all and I will start to, I just was curious if I was missing something.

The depth meter can fluctuate pretty good depending on the size of the target. I get a lot more depth info from tone and pinpoint. HH jim tn

It also depends how high above the ground you are swinging. If you get a 6" deep target while swinging 2" above the ground, the depth would realistically be 4" when pin-pointing. Just my 2 cents.
