I am not trying to say ML-WE units are different on depth. But I have a question with No Pun Intended to anyone.
I bought a White's 90.0 SL a few years back and I sent it back to Whites because it really didn't have good depth over 5" max. I talked to a tech-he said he could get it to the point of being unstable on sen. and I would have to back it down if it falsed. Also he replaced the coil on the unit-calibrated everything very well also.
I got used to the unit- and at an area were we had hunts up to 12 years prevoius. I found silver dimes that were buried-went deep (Were in soft wet ground-muddy area).I was able to hit coins at 10"-11"+ with a fairly good lock on them. On mostly what was buried was clad-silver dimes.
A guy with a CX units bet me $50 I couldn't hit one in front of him with ID-him not. I did dig one 5 minutes later that was deep. He did not even get a whisper with a GTI 2500-CX III. The ID of 80-82 was good and would vary from 80-82 when criss-crosed both ways over the target. I dugged a long time and was getting worried boy again, out popped a glint of silver Merc from the dark black soil at 11" (The guy brought his measuring tape). I would not-did not take a cent from the guy. But he said he wanted a older Eagle SL after watching me unearth 3-4 more dimes at depths to 6"-11" dimes were on their edges and laying flat as well.
No other unit was ever able to do this again after 5 XLTs-DFX-numerous Eagle IIs. It worked like this everywere I hunted. I wish I had kept the unit. I found other target very deep in a old football that was a military academy also from the late 1890's era. After selling the Eagle II-buying an XLT there was never another coin to turn up in either of these areas I hunted before.
I can vouch for the CXIII-GTI 2500 both went deep in the hands of an experienced user, and the fellow with me, was very much accustomed to both units. The ground was very wet, as it had rained on-off for a straight week.
But can I possibly expect depth like this considering soil cond. with a Explorer? I have a lot of faith I can learn the unit in a given time. I hear so many good things about ML-Whites also. Both great machines!!
