depth of the at pro

As with all metal detectors, depth is relative to the ground mineralization, the type, size, conductivity and positioning of target, metal detector settings and coil size. These are just a few, as there are many others. But, from reading the specs, once the operator has the settings set up properly for conditions, it should do very well in the big picture.

Yeah that has always been the party line that all manufacturers use so that they don't have to back up any depth claims they might make during the advertising of a machine. And while it is basically true it's still a joke of a response. For years manufacturers would come out with a new machine and say this new machine gets 20% more depth than our older model. If these claims had been true with over 30 years of making these claims we'd all be out digging individual coins at 4ft with a top of the line machine :) When it comes to depth all you can do is hope that you are getting a good machine. Before the Internet if a machine was a dud the only way you found out it was a dud was by buying it yourself or by word of mouth which tended to travel very slowly. Now with the Internet if a manufacturer comes with a dud or with a great machine you will know about it in days or weeks. So in a way the Internet is our best friend when it comes to new metal detector releases and can be either a best friend or worst enemy for a detector manufacturer.

:usaflag:Well, we should be getting some feedback here very shortly. The release date is almost upon us.

John brings up some good points but a general airtest on a silver dime would give us a ballpark to chew on...Indeed it will be out soon and many questions will be answered as many experienced detectorists have them on order so expect a lot of feedback....

The truth is, in the big picture with the Vlf machines is that in all-metal, the VLF technology hasn't really improved all that much in the depth department for the last 30 years. Sad but true

The ATPro should prove to be a hit though, I can't wait!

That's a good question. Relic hunters would especially like an answer. I haven't read of any depth numbers, anywhere...whether in the air or in ground. Guess will have to wait and see. Hopefully we won't have to choose between depth and waterproofness.

No one has one to play with but I'm sure it will surpass the Ace in depth but there's much more to tecting than alleged depth. Most dropped coins and goodies are well within the reach of most machines out there.

On one of the video's from you tube showed a guy relic hunting with the AT PRO. He found a bullet and said it was deeper then his pro pointer was long. How long is the pro pointer ? That don't give you the total depth of what the detector could do but it gives you a idea of some of the depth of the detector.
