Depth meter

Can someone tell me what to adjust so that my depth meter is more accurate for coinsin the turf?
I was reading 7" and they were.ithin 2" of the surface. It was happening a lot.

I've been having this same problem with both the 11" and 17" coil !

Hope that Minelab is aware of this problem / bug and fixes it with a firmware / software update.

Also, quarters read in as 13:45 / 13:46.

I believe the issues that both of you are seeing can be caused by other targets in the immediate vicinity, mineralization and/or condition of the target (oxidation, etc.). Even though I have seen that a quarter should be about a 12/43, I have found both dimes and pennies reading this. A 12/45 (and sometimes a 13/45) is more often a quarter, especially, clad. In regard to the depth, I make it a habit to check the target site with my ProPointer before digging, as I have found shallow targets reading 4" to 8". If you get a 12/43 to 12/45 showing 3" to 5" and you have dug over 6" or 8" and still no target, you can just about bet it will be a deep aluminum can....larger targets can appear as some smaller and closer to the surface.

I'm still pretty new at this game, so, I could be way off base. But, this is how I understand it......someone correct me if wrong.

I have found that too high of sensitivity (Auto +3, or Manual 24+) can give shallow targets too much oomph and say they are deeper than for real.

Yes this is a little problem, but you can decipher this phenomenon very easily. When this happens, you will notice the target is in a much larger area, and the deeper targets will be in a very small area (Maybe 2" x 2"). The coil is just picking it up with the total area of the coil. By swinging North to South, then East to west, you can easily start to hear and see where the target is. Pay attention to the depth gauge as well. If you are hearing a screaming target and your depth says 7 inches, you might want to investigate some more. Keep swinging and you will see that the target is in a different area than you thought.

once you pinpoint an object switch back to your hunt mode and check the depth again. I had the same issue but found I wasn't centered over target. I have used many machines over the past 35 years and the ctx is the most accurate so far..... HH
