Depth compared to my old detector question.

I have been wondering if my Fisher F-70 is as deep as my old Explorer XS I traded for the F-70 and I'm just tired of not knowing lol anyone have any imput.

I have used both.. The Minelab was deeper in my experiences.
Note this was in my soil....

Please note I moved this post to Metal Detecting Forum... MDF is the only forum where comparisons can be asked of and responses posted.

Oh man I had a feeling the Minelab would win in my soil as well Elton.

The Explorer easily got the best depth (and target I.D.)-----And yeah, I have owned/used them both.

I had a XS, the F70 and the F-75 and the F75 I liked while the F-70 wasn't impressive for me, but that is me. The XS for me took a little longer to understand and did much better then the F-70 with no comparison on those 2 detectors. Now I have a guy up here in ND that knows his Explorer XS well and had one since 2000, he even wore out one and on his second one plus has another used one in reserve in case his second one get wore out too as he just love it and if you seen what he can find with the XS in well worked area you could see why he likes it and why he wont switch. Myself I did OK with mine, but to me and my bad hearing I did better with the Minelab Sovereign as I know it well. I think I would have done better with the XS, but with my real bad hearing the tones were too small and quick while my Sovereign kept the tones of the last target, so I knew when I went over a good target. Now later on I had a E-Trac and that one impressed me cause it had pitch hold so the tones lingered on longer.
Sorry to ramble on, but if a person spent the time to learn and know the XS or any of the Explorers or Sovereign series detectors you will know why we use them for our serious hunting.

have owned neither and as much as it pains me no single frequency machine will be as deep as a FBS machine with ID .

Would this be the great James ND ? What happened to Him anyway was He banned for some reason as never got a answer? Not tryin' to stir anything up just curious is all? Rick

Yes it was James and one of the best hunter with the XS I have ever seen. He has 2 other guys that have learned a lot from him about hunting and they do too excellent and even beat him at times, they use the E-Tracs which for me they work better than the XS, that is for me and James knows his XS so the XS is the best for him.
Yes James was banned from the forums as someone that was jealous of his finds was giving him a lot of slack and calling him a liar and when he complained to one of the Moderators they had James banned for finding too much but if they could only hunt with James they would see what he is capable of with his XS, it is very impressive!!
