Depth 4.5" coil ?

I just traded for a AT Pro. Really think I am going to like it. Definitely love the iron audio. With my old machine if I ran with low disc. trying to find gold rings. old bottlecaps always sounded like a good coin. With the Pro, I dont have this problem. I was curious if anyone has used the 4.5" coil much. How deep is it? Thought it would be good for hunting trashy construction sites. Thanks, Mark

On the ACE, I got about 6 inches on a silver dime air testing it. You should get at least that, probably more like 7 inches in good ground. If you manually ground balance your detector and lower the balance 5-10 numbers, you will even get even more depth.

Good luck!

I have used smaller coils on other detectors for one reason. To get between the trash targets. The stack coil on the AT Pro does that very well. I wonder if the small coil is even necessary?
I can see maybe getting closer to a fence or something. But for actual trashy spots the stock coil works fine for me.

I get some decent depth with the sniper. Nothin' like the stock though. I use the sniper in tot lots and have regularly dug coins and such at around six inches. I agree, the stock search coil is awesome for trash seperation, though. The main reason that I got the sniper is for actually "sniping" tiny gold nuggets in creeks and streams. That sniper will get tiny nuggets much smaller than the stock search coil:biggrin:
Happy Hunting!:)

Yes, I see no reason for the sniper coil... Even if you get a non stop tone in trashhy area... Just dig some trash/.coins up, and save a few dollars.

Bill S, thanks for posting the 4.5 air test. Now I know what to expect from the 4.5 I just bought, primarily for tot lots.
