Depressed

It has been almost two weeks since I've gotten out and frankly I'm depressed. I wanted just one more hunt with the 250 to finish out a great year. It has been it the 20s every night now for 10 days, and not much above 30 during daylight. Ground is frozen almost everywhere. No snow cover but it's coming. Blah! Makes it hard to come to this forum too.

Tonight I got out the old tackle box and started sorting what is left of 2007's coins and jewelry. Tumbled the last $55.00 in clad. Still have pennies to do but I may just roll them up. I keep copper cents anyway and a lot of the zincers are too corroded to place back in circulation. I also still have my silver jewelry and relics to clean up and sort which I'm sure I'll get done this weekend. I also decided to do a book to display some of my favorite things. Maybe 20-40 items a year. Things like cool coins, pins, tokens anthing that will fit in a 2x2 or a flip.

I tried some coin roll hunting but had no luck at all.

The other thing I have realized is exactly how loud and obnoxious my neighbors are during the day. I went over and talked to them a few times about all the noise and realized just how little English they speak and just how many of them actually live there. They have also started flying a Puerto Rican flag above a US flag and on the same pole. I'm going to get a belly full of liquor in me one of these days and fix that problem. (This was originally a much longer rant but I edited it down a lot.) I would have an equally large problem with anybody, regardles of their ethnicity, acting in a similar fashion.

Now I'm really depressed.

1) Of course you could come up to Edmonton....the ground is still diggable in the Woods under the snow :(

2) Make some coin rings with some of your finds.....

3) Drive around & look for potential sites for next year

4) Detect a toboggan hill (if you have snow)

5) Have a shot of whiskey and chill-out :drinking:

6) Do some volunteer work...helping others can make you feel good :)

7) Go to your library and look up some local history

either way....hope you have a great Christmas

I know the feeling. It's snowing as I type, probably approaching 5" on the ground. I can't relate to your neighbor-situation....I have white-trash living next door. My problem is with the stupid city. I live on the end of a dead-end street, instead of the snowplows backing into the drive & pushing snow to the corner (where it's out of everyones way), they push it right up into the drive. I called them several times last year, made them come back & move it atleast once. Called & spoke with the Street Commissioner Wednesday as a friendly "reminder" about last year. He said the address is "tagged" (lol, sure it is).....what happend Thursday? I have to have a discussion with the plow driver for pushing snow into the drive. He left feeling insulted when I used the refference "It ain't rocket-science". I've decided I'm not calling anymore, next time I'll get a Bobcat, load all the snow & go dump it on the steps of City Hall (lol, and I'm the type that will do it too) :ranting:

Going to do as mentioned, research, try & gain permission to new sites to hunt, and being a newbie, learn all I can.

C'mon spring!!

It's raining here in CA so no detecting.

God you CA kids get off light......as for the snow , could you possibly send a couple of inches over to the uk?.Christmas is lovely with a bit of snow...not too much though !!!!

CA is getting plenty of snow right now. It just doesn't snow where I live, thank you. Well, in the 50 years I've lived here it snowed 3 times. And stayed on the ground maybe 10 min. And that's plenty for me. I don't like the cold. Spoiled I guess. I'm a :hot: kind of person.

I'm in the good ol US of A:usaflag: and we had a foot of snow Wednesday. The kids haven't had school for three days.

Donm't they have a nuisance law in your part of the world? Out here we call the cops. If they are called out to the same address three times in any given month the violators are evicted by the Sheriffs Department. Call the fuzz on them a few times and maybe they will get the message. We had a bunch of beaners across the street throwing loud, drunken, parties in their garage with live music blasting away and dancing till early morning hours. WE went over once and asked them to cool it but it was a waste of time, so we called the fuzz and eight cops showed up, confiscated their musical equipment, and sent everybody packing. That's been over a year ago and we haven't heard a peep out of them since. They don't even turn their radio up to loud.

If I want to see lots of snow I can jump in the car and drive 60 miles up to the top of 11,200 foot Mt. Hood and play in 20-30 feet of the stuff, then turn around and go back to normal weather. Or I can drive 90 miles in the opposite direction and wind up on the beach. Haven't been down there in ages since momma got laid up with MS.

Bill the city for dumping it there. They are blocking access to and exit from your property in case of emergency Plus they are dumping city refuse on your property removed from a street you are paying them to maintain.. Take pics of it for evidence or a video of the actual dumping then complain higher up - like to the Mayor Or if you have a local TV station have them do a televised piece on the problem or run your video. That always gets the immediate attention of politicians. :)

I've accomplished several things around here that all the neighbors failed at - by writing a letter to one of the city commissioners

When I was a kid they never shut schools down for snow unless the school was completely buried and we had to wade that stuff to school, snowball fighting all the way to and from.

Clear skies, 60 degrees, sat/sun with nothing to do, looking at my Garrett ADS and my ADS looking at me with a arm brace on because I "jacked up" my thumb.

Since it IS winter, this might be a good time to start researching new places to MD when spring gets here.
Make the best of your time.:geek:
