I would rather find a fake ring than a real pull tab any day! Just have fun!

The AT PRO is my first detector. My first year (last year) I only found a bunch of clad and a few junk rings.

As time has gone by I feel that I have finally learned what the signals mean as far as the audio combined with the TID numbers together. This year I'm finding LOTS of good stuff. Just give yourself some time to get used to the 3D audio of your detector. I would say that I can almost guess what I'm gonna dig up before its out of the ground. For example, I got a real high-pitched ring that was solid 87 on the TID at 2" deep the other day. I said to myself "That's a ring." I dug, and pulled out my first pure silver ring the other day.

Just keep looking out there, and you will gradually become familiar with the sounds the detector puts out and the TID readings. I've also noticed that I don't always want to do my hunts in one spot. If I have a good 4 hours or more to go hunting, I will change it up if I feel an area isn't producing much besides tabs and junk.

I tried my strategy the other day. I was in a park and it wasn't hitting too well for the targets. I moved to another area (a school baseball field about 5 blocks from where I was) and dug my first silver Rosie 1956. Then shortly after that I dug a few feet from there, I found the above mentioned ring. Once that spot wasn't hitting so well for targets, I moved to another park about 10 blocks from there. I found my first silver pendant there(Jesus, with sports symbols all around Him). The pendant is sterling (.925) and weighs approximately 1/2 ounce.

Good luck to you, persistence pays off.
