depot find for July 16th

not sure what it is. it weighs about 15 pounds.

I went back and found another part just like this one but smaller and only 2 holes in both sides, I also found a buick hubcap in between three pine trees that are in like a cirle, the ground was covered in dead needles and when I moved away that layer there were more with a layer of ashes on them then the dirt, I have to charge up my camera battery, I will post photos when I can.

These are the plates that go under railroad rails.The plate lays on top of a wooden tie and the spikes are driven into the 4 holes.The head of the spike catches the edge of the rail and it holds the rail in place.

cool, below are the photos of the smaller plate and the hubcap I found, the last photo is a close up of the symbol in the middle of the hubcap, it looks like the circle part was red and the symbol thing was red, silver and blue, I am thinking buick but I don't know what year.

That is what we use to call a "full disk" hub cap,from a Ford. IMHO,from the late 60's up too ?????
