Denver, CO area...ISO fellow detectorists.

Hi! I am new to this forum and looking for fellow detectorists in the Denver, Colorado area. I am a 36 year old female, originally from Brooklyn, New York. I bought my first metal detector about 7 years ago (bounty hunter) shortly after moving to Colorado. I love to be in and explore nature. For Mother's day this year I got a Garrett Ace 150. Looking forward to getting a Garrett ProPointer as a late birthday gift soon. It will make finding those pull tabs soooo much easier, lol!
My Husband and I go exploring in the mountains most weekends (he doesn't metal detect or dig in the dirt with me, lol...it's my thing...and he let's me do my thing) but, during the week I detect alone. I am starting to realize why there aren't more women in the hobby...going out to MD as a female, by yourself can be scary...especially since you are always looking down.

I hope to meet some fellow Treasure Hunters on this site!

Thanks,
MaryAntoinette

You married the wrong guy! Kidding!

Welcome to the Forum! Somebody ought to be along shortly...If not, you may have to get used to hunting alone like most of us do...sounds like you are hooked on this sport! If I may, start hunting heads up?...look around, let your ears tell you whats under the coil and use your eyes to try to 'see' good drop zones, or approaching danger...even simple things like where people hop a chainlink fence...the top wires are rolled over, etc...good drop zone there...stuff like that...get out super early and hit those totlots in the relatively safe Denver suburbs...cruise around on a site like Mapquest Satellite image to find the rich neighborhoods and schools/parks...I am proud of you for hunting alone! Really a nice and peaceful sport, hunt heads up and on a swivel, listen to your Spidey sense, if something dont feel right, get out fast, or dont even stop there in the first place!...Like I tell the guys that work for me, "A Lady must always know when to leave a party".. Thats just a general business/life rule, sooner or later, things go to hell, and a person dont want to be there when they do! Good Luck, and post some finds!

Thanks for the comment and the tips, Mud!

Being from Brooklyn I have a great deal of street smarts and I am always aware of my surroundings...but, it always seems that someone walks up on me when I am digging a target. LoL! The other day a guy and his dog scared the crud out of me something good, my gum fell out of my mouth and right into the hole! That cracked me up!

My husband loves that this is one of my hobbies! I am a lucky girl! He really doesn't mind coming out with me when he can. He admires all of my skills as I do his, especially his automotive skills.

I don't mind detecting alone. Every once in a while it would be nice to hunt with others though.

HH!
