Demolition site find

So this morning I had an early therapy session for my bum knee and decided to metal detect afterwards. It's hard because I can only bend at the waist. But anyway, I've been detecting here a few times and not found much because of all the trash and my lack of skill when it comes to finding any deep coins.

This is on a corner of the main drag and the traffic is constant and noisy and I don't use ear phones because they don't help much. They may be broke I have to try them again. I get a lot of good sounding hits and when I dig it up, it is some kind of copper upholstery tacks. Have found a lot of them. This today rang up even better than the tacks and I felt it was something good with a TID of 42. This apparent green coin was only two inches deep in some loose dirt the excavator tracks had heaved up.

I couldn't see it very well but was pretty sure it had to be a large cent. After washing it lightly and using a magnifying glass, the date is 1801. The word one and part of the word cent can be seen on the back.

This is my oldest find. Was using Minelab 705 and coiltek digger coil. Thanks for looking.

Nice find! Wow only 2 inches huh? The other day I found a couple wheat pennies 2 inches down and they were 1935 and 1944 that would leave me to believe that they were moved from some other part of the school and dumped right where I found them!

ay to go! Right place at the right time! Old coins don't have to be deep.

Thank you! Good job yourself on the wheat pennies. Maybe they were carried in from some fill dirt?

Closer look and a little cleaning reveals this penny is not an 1801 but rather a 1831.

Head phones that cover the ears completely work really great keeping out the outside noise. You still hear the noise but the response from the signal is right at your ear and the outside noise is muffled.

Cleaned it up a little, Hope there is more detail in these pictures. Well, you can see it is cleaned up better but my pictures not any good Thank you Tinhorn, your picture looks great.
