Delta 4000 broken coil - advice?

Back home in Vermont... Last night was out in the frost and moonlight and had a high an low point - high point being that I found my first nice coin with the Delta - an 1865 2 cent piece in absolutely beautiful condition. Deep in the woods, total lucky fluke - a needle in a haystack. Bad news - about an hour later I was on the ground and went to flatten out the coil to pass dirt over it by hand, and the wire snapped off clean at the coil... Not sure if being out in the cold had something to do with it, because I really didn't apply much pressure... But as I have only had this machine a little over a week this is disappointing to say the least! So I'm wondering if you all know - will Teknetics fix this coil or do I just have to shell out for a new one. If it makes a difference, I bought the machine through Brookstone as I had a credit with them, so though it came direct from First Texas I didn't buy it through a dealer. Any advice greatly appreciated - I can post a photo of the coil if that's any help...
Cheers, and HH...

Man that's a real downer. It will be interesting to know what Teknetics has to say about this. Keep us posted.

Wow....I've banged the crap out of mine hitting small rocks and twigs things nothing bad yet...hope Teknetics gets this one sorted out for you!

I think that as long as you have your receipt they should replace the coil.

Give them a call....1-800-413-4131. They will want a copy of your sales receipt when you send it in and see no reason why it wont be fixed or replaced. Good luck. HH jim tn Oh, great on the 2 cent piece. That is a neat find.

PS - There is probably already a thread on thsi somewhere, but anyone uses an EXcelerator search coi with their Delta? If so? What were the results? If I do have to buy a new coil, I need to decide whether to just go with the stock coil, which was working well, or to branch out. Need a 5" greek as well, but in terms of an all-around... advice appreciated. Thanks!

Send it in for repair................

Don't think I did leave enough play, and it caught underneath the circular tightening knob on the coil which over stressed it. Good thing about mistakes like this is that you won't make it a second time! Any idea what repair cost is for this? Cheaper to buy a new coil??

Maine, I respect a person who's big enough to admit they made a boo-boo. Too many folks blame the machine even though they know they did something that caused the problem. Now, if your going to get a new concentric coil, what about the elongated 10" concentric that comes stock on the Omega. That elongated shape is superior to the round concentric for getting between trash. Just a suggestion to mull over.

If you have your invoice from where you bought it I would call Teknetics and see if they can help.
