(simply a re-named Quantum XT), are two-filter, slow-sweep models.

They share all the coils that the Classic III, ID, IDX models and XL Pro, XLT, etc., use.

They do provide a little added visual information than the IDX Pro, and a feature or two to tinker with the audio response. However .... my biggest grips with them was that the operator doesn't have full control of the discrimination for precise adjustment. You're limited to accepting or rejecting the eight blocks or segments of discrimination range and that eliminates the ability to "fine tune" the rejection point for various targets and/or ground mineral conditions.

Who knows, you might actually like it ... but I would put my modified IDX Pro up against any Quantum, coil-for-coil, in any environment and match or better the overall field performance. I have for years and my modified Classic III's and IDX Pro's have never 'lost.' Just remember that they are two filter, slow-sweep designed because if you over-sweep them in moderate to higher mineralization you'll have a definite impact on performance. Use the excellent XL Pro for moderate to fast-sweep duty.

Monte

I have both the IDX with Mod Monte Mentioned and a QXT Pro. I tend to use the QXT as most people use the XLT. I keep the larger 9.5 inch coil mounted on the QXT, and a 5.3 on my MR. Bill Modified Classic IDX. I like the agronomics of the QT better. I like the instant feed back on target intensity, Large graphics and smooth quiet running of the QT. As for speed, Keep it slow as Monte says. I rather like the slow sweep speed as it tends to relax me verses a fast, tense pace. I have thought often of getting rid of my QT for a LT but as I read other posts they seem to be getting very close to the same depth. Probably the biggest factor in my keeping my QXT has been the lack of need to " tinker ". I know if I had a XLT I could not resist and I would probably mess it up. You know,"keep it simple" I think you will like the QXT if you gave it a fair try. It is an awsome pinpointer.
