deleon

does the deleon work well in dry sand on a beach, emu bob

I have never tried mine on the beach, but there is a short video clip on you tube of a fella using one in dry sand with the clean sweep coil. The video is by a guy who was asking questions to the fella, and the fella reports pretty decent results in dry sand.
I think the video is called 'Metal Detecting at the Beach Tesoro Deleon'

It will depend upon how the internal Ground Balance is set for the ground mineral conditions where you'll be hunting. Also to; be factored I are:

• The search coil used.

• The sweep speed used.

• Control adjustment, especially Discrimination.

• If the ground conditions remain uniform and you're not moving from very dry to damp to wet or shallow-water.

I had a DeLeon we they were first released, and tried another someone brought to; a seminar several years ago. Those are the only two I have encountered in any of my travels or hunting with others where I go out here in several western US states. I was not pleased with that model or performance in the very mineralized environments I generally search, but it might wok okay for you on a dry, low-to-moderate mineralized beach.
