Hi guys, long time no see hope you are all well.
Here's my question: I'm currently using the Laser Hawkeye (european version of the Deleon). It has factory preset GB, and I've found some great finds with it, even though I've had it less than a year.
The only thing I can fault with it is that the proccessor is a bit slow to decide what the target is, you have to sweep over the target 3 or 4 times before the meter settles down (not a prob though)
the only thing that bugs me is that some targets show up on the meter as a big fat 0 (iron) but the audio sounds good. I dig these ones, and often it IS a none ferrous target! now I KNOW no target i.d. machine is 100% accurate, but this concerns me! so I'm toying with the idea of going back to a non metered machine and learning to trust my ears again!
The Tejon is getting good reviews here in the UK, and it retails at the same price as the Hawkeye. I like the idea of it having two discrim pots too. I've never used a manual ground balance machine before, any tips? will the Tejon be deeper and better? have any of you guys had experience with both these machines, how do they compare? I have a Roman site that has a big mineralisation problem with all the tiny iron fragments all over it, will a manual G.B machine be better on such a site?
Hope you can help me out with my questions and help me make the right choice Thanks in advance
charlie.
