DeLeon unstable

First time out this year, my two year old DeLeon very unstable.Turn it on,no sound--then few seconds later it howls regardless where coil or settings are. Only way to stop it to turn it off. Can anyone help me. Thanks. John
 
Hi John, this might seem silly but try disconnecting the coil wire then plug it back in. Maybe you could try wiggeling the coil wire at the coil & at the control housing (with the detector on) and see if you might a short somewhere. If you have another coil handy you could try it - that would determine if it is your detector or your coil. You can always send it in to the Tesoro company & they will fix it up. I am sure that you tried a new set of alkaline batteries. Good luck! Steve.
 
I know skiwhiz mentioned this, but I've had my SSumax go nuts several times and a battery change was all it took.

Hi John Did you resolve your issue with your D? I notice you said 2 years D. I have a new D first time out just being erratic read post pin pointing.
