DeLeon today...

Found a 1919 mercury dime, bicentennial, 1956 wheat, and single ring bullet with the DeLeon, first time out with it... What would be a good 2nd machine, tha is guys...

I loved my Deleon. I had a back up of a simple Compadre. Both single tone, and learning with the help of the Deleons screen helped as well with the Compadre when I wanted to hunt trashy areas (5.75 coil) with turn on and go. I finally added a Bandido 2 to the mix for the ground balance, but didn't really need it in my mild soil. The Silver might be a bit nicer if you ever use AM.

Only problem I have in my area is hot rocks, they sound out a strong signal like silver does.. This is .y first Tesoro and would lime to have another...

Way to go! A 1919 Mercury Dime was my first silver find. You'll find that the Deleon has some really good depth. The Vaquero, Tejon, Compadre, Silver µMax, Cibola and Outlaw would be good choices.

Then you need a machine with manual ground balance to GB out the hot rocks.

Sven is right about needing a ground balance for the hot rocks. The Vaquero, Tejon, and Outlaw have ground balances in Tesoro's new detector line-up.

Magnetite, black sand, hot rocks are usually found where gold resides. May you should change to a good gold detector like the Lobo SuperTRAQ.

Nice finds . I'd go with the Outlaw . A plus is the fact the coils for the Outlaw will work on your Deleon .

I've considered the outlaw but was wondering about the frequency being about the same as the DeLeon. Would I not be better off with a machine with a different frequency.

No, at least not in my opinion. A much higher frequency is desirable for gold detecting and a very low frequency is supposed to be better for Silver and give a bit more depth, but having used multible detectors with frequencies in the average range offered by the factories for general purpose hunting, I've never noticed any practical difference in the field and don't base my purchasing choice around that detail.

Exactly what BarberBill said. The differences in frequencies in the Tesoro line-up is not a significant of difference for you to notice. Example the higher freq. Tejon is an excellent coin and silver slayer.
