This machine just keeps on giving I have found two more rings one a 1937 class ring the other a silver band but even better on Monday at about 8" deep I found my oldest U.S. coins to date I have been using the DeLeon for about 7 years now. Up until now my oldest was a 1900 Indian Head that had been shot with a .22. On Monday I found the corner of a tin box that had three Indian Heads and two Wheat pennies the IH's were 1869,1895,and 1900 the Wheat's were 1917, and 1920d I was floored after I finished my happy dance I was able to hunt a little more. But that was sure on for memory bank. Like I said this is a great machine and no one can convince my otherwise if you use it IT WILL FIND THE GOODS THANKS TESORO FOR ALL THE FUN!

Good job phinbolt,

It's allways neat to find a small old pocket spill, or maybe part of a stash in your case:surprised:. I bought the wife a new DeLeon the other day, stuck a 5.75 concentric coil on it and it is light as a feather, she loves it.

Way to go phinbolt, nice finds. I don't know how many times I hear folks say I would lve to try a Tesoro but.......... they haven't put out a display detector recently that has tones, this bells & whistles and that bells & whistles, etc. ect. ect. I say why not try the DeLeon or the Cortes, after all if Tesoro can make the best dig & beep detectors in the world I am sure that their DeLeon and Cortes are no slouch either. Good to hear that their display detectors can get er done as well as their others. Always enjoy ready posts like yours & hope that other future Tesoro swingers read posts like yours. I know what you mean about Tesoro and fun, their detectors are such a joy to use.

I just love my Deleon! Right after I got it (used) I went to one of my normal search sites with the stock coil on it and The place is a major trash and scrap pit! I didn't search long and switched to the 5 3/4 in coil that came with it. I have to say, I Might never take that coil off! I'm considering buying a new Deleon so I have the warranty, because I can't see ever not having one! I do get the feeling that the Tesoro Purists Don't care for the Deleon or the Cortes much because they Aren't Beep and Dig MDs! GL & HH Pat

Way to go! That's some great finds.

I've been wanting to try a Deleon. I need to sell my X-Terra 505 first. I have a few too many detectors.

BTW has anyone done a ID chart for the Deleon? I'm curious to what zinc pennies, nickels and screw caps ID.

Hi tabman,

I just came in from outdoors with my Wife's new DeLeon with the 5.75 concentric coil, the nickel read 21/22,,,the zinc penny read 74/75,,,the aluminum wine bottle cap read 89/90/ ,,,quarter reads 95 rusty beer bottle cap reads 0. This little detector replaced her heavy Toltec ll, and she loves it, I like it too:thumbup:

Thanks Hombre. The Deleon sounds like a winner! Those aluminum wine bottle caps give me fits sometimes. The Pepsi and Coke aluminum screw caps don't fool me much. It's nice to hear that rusty pry caps read '0'.

As far as I know, the main criticism of the DeLeon is the preset ground balance. Also true of the Cortes in discrimination mode. That said I have used both and they perform quite well in the soil I generally hunt. I have recovered many coins, some jewelry and rings and have found the depth to be good. They have performed well and given good depth with less that full sensitivity, in fact I feel they actually performed better over all with a setting in the 7 to 8 range. All in all I've enjoyed using them and they've been fun detectors for me.
