DeLeon or El Dorado

Hello,
I have been into this hobby for 12yrs.now and I have always used minelab or whites machines So I dont know much about the tesoro line I want to buy a tesoro for my son and I was wondering which model would be better for park hunting and drive in movie grass areas the eldorado or the DeLeon? the parks in question have given up many old coils it has been around since 1844 so where the ID is a nice feature depth is important
any input would be great!!!!
Thanks HH.

paul, for a yougster starting out, a silver umax would be a better choice, it is a really good detector and simple to operate and much less expensive. there is a learning curve involved with the eldorado, and the deleon is a whole lot more cash to lay out. also you want to find out if its a passing fancy or he is really interested.

Even if your son's not a youngster, the Silver would be a good way to go because people starting out in detecting should be spending their hunting time learning and enjoying the basics of hunting -- not adjusting or futzing around with their machines. Parks and drive-in grass are pretty elementary sort of sites where the finds aren't going to be very deep as it is, and the Silver will get you down to the 5-6" level quite well.
Also, if your son doesn't have his recovery skills down perfect, trying to dig really deep and wide holes in parks isn't the smartest thing to do by anyone, given the over-sensitivity of many people about detecting on public land as it is already. Even if holes are covered perfectly, all it takes is for one person in authority to just see a guy digging to China with a big mountain of dirt sitting next to him and the next thing you know, detecting in that park is banned. Save the deep holes for the woods, construction sites, and private properties.

Well I started almost a year ago with the Eldorado.
I too hunt coins primarily in schoolyards and parks.
It is a great Detector, especially if like me you are a Beep-Digger(if it beeps dig). I stil have the Eldorado and will use it some this year.
Of course the DeLeon was not available then.
It was not till the Dry Summer months of July and August that I even considered the need or want for a target ID machine. When the ground gets hard and dry I started wanting to be a bit more selective of the targets I dug, yet did not want to give up the opportunity of jewelry.
Then I decided I needed a TID machine.
Had every intention of buying a DeLeon, but got a good deal on a used Cortes.
What little I have used it I have no regrets and am delighted with the performance.
I really believe, if one is going to use only one detector,he is money ahead to but the DeLeon and ,not later see the need to buy a second machine.

I think that I will get the DeLeon
my son has used my ML.sovereign in the past the only trouble was the weight!
I feel that it would be nice to have target ID. and the fact that the machine requires no critical adjustments is a plus!!
Again Thanks for the help
HH.
