DeLeon finds deep silver

Had a good this afternoon hunt, went to a park this is close to where I work. I get out of work at 3:00 everyday so I had a few hours to hunt. This park is dated to around the early 1900's it has seen a lot of changes over the years but it has produced lots of silver for me I say lots mostly mercury dimes the oldest a 1916! . I found my first silver coin of the year here in late May, yesterday I was able to rescue a 1937 mercury dime from it's deep hiding place and so I went back today in hopes of a repeat, but to my surprise I had a even better day. At first it was only clad but that fills the bucket, anyway I moved to an area that was full of junk can slaw, pull tabs and the like I kept looking for that deep silver signal I love to see on the D's screen and there it was silver at 8". The ground here is nice and soft unlike much of the parched ground around town I pulled a 4" plug and proceeded to hunt my prize and boom out drops a 1954 rosie I figured that was going to be the find of the day but it was only the beginning. Dug a few more iffy targets and bam there it was again silver at 7" this time the target was much bigger and stronger than the first I pulled a plug and soon I was down to near 10" deep grabbed a handful of dirt waved it over the coil and it screamed here it is I sifted through the dirt and found a 1941 Washington quarter, man what a day I was having. That would have been a great hunt but it got better yet, I continued hunting for a while longer as it was only a little after 5:00. Then once again the DeLeon hit deep silver this time 9" I figured another silver dime 6 or 7 inches down I pulled a plug and searched the hole and to my surprise at 9 inches or better another Washington quarter this time a 1949 in very good shape. Three silver coin days are few and far between around here so you can understand my excitement. Anyway here they are I will post a pic of the 1937 merc later as I left it at work I love that deep silver and so does the DeLeon<img src="http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/phinbolt/Picture084.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

Always amazes me how nice looking silver comes out of the hole when all the clad looks so ugly. Congrats on the silver!

Today's clad coins are only worth a fraction of what silver coins were once worth in our pockets years back. A couple of Mercury Dimes and a silver quarter would get you a delicious hamburger, fries and a real coke at most city diners in the late fifties and early sixties. Two clad dimes and a quarter won't buy much today.

It takes more money today to buy the same product. The product did not increase in value. Our currency is worth less today.

That's why silver coins are so much fun to find nowadays.
