Delayed VDI tone response question

I have noticed every now and then that when I receive a high VDI tone I will sometimes get a delayed tone of the same but yet maybe a 1/3 less in volume. This doesn't happen often, just once in a great while. I have never been able to get it to repeat that when it happens as far as the softer delayed tone, but I have been able to get the stronger tone to repeat.

Just wondering what it might be. I'm pretty sure that it is not falsing, as it may only happen once at one location and it may not do it for several hunts. It doesn't bother me the least, but being a new comer to the Whites line it has me curious.

Thanks

DJH

What is your recovery delay set at? If it is 100 or more, try reducing to 80 or less.

It sounds like you are running with modulation on,which will cause the quieter signal your describing.

Running RD anywhere from 45-60.

When I first got the V3i, I had 2 coins laid out on the fround at nearly 1 1/2 - 2 feet apart and noticed that I could hit both targets going from right to left, but on the return I could hit only one of them. I realized that the RD needed to be adjusted then and came up with what I'm at currently.

I'll look into that setting and see what it is set at.

Thanks for the input.

Rob in not on here this weekend, but maybe someone else might remember......... wasn't the V3's modulation backwards from what the manual says?

You

I run one program with modulation and it sure sounds like what you are describing. The reversed settings for the 2 detectors is a fact. Rob

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but where would I look within the settings to see about the modulation?

Thanks for the responses Larry, Rob, and CVS.

If you have search audio on your live controls just hit enter, and un-check modulation.

Or in expert menu, under search audio you can un check modulation for disc, all metal, mixed mode, or stereo mixed mode. Rob

Thanks Rob for the info. I'll look into that and see if that is the cure. Will respond either way to let you know how I come out.

Thanks again guys

1-21/2 to 2 feet apart is a big separation. How fast are you swinging.... what is the filter setting.....is the ground clean of targets not intended....

Thanks Rob, I took a look and Modulation was checked as ON.

I will give it a try and see if that is what I was experiencing and report whether that was the culprit or not.

Modulation as ON appears to have been the culprit, so I went through some of my other loaded programs and made sure to turn it off on them as well.

Ran it all day on Sunday and didn't get 1 delayed signal like I was experiencing.

Thanks again for the insight on that

AND THANKS for the reply about your results.
