Defective Time Ranger?

Tico

Member
I just bought one of the closeout Time Ranger's from big internet store (Meijer)
I was playing around with it around the house today and my All Metal/Smart Track button doesn't seem to do anything.
According to the manual if you tap it it's suppose to put the machine in all metal mode for pinpointing and if you hold it for 2 secs it tigger ground tracking.
Mine doesn't seem to do anything, doesn't change it from p1,2,3 mode into all metal. Doesn't change the screen in any way.
Doesn't really do anything as I can tell.
Just wondering if I'm missing something or the machine is defective.
If there is something wrong, not sure whether to send it back for refund (I'm pretty sure their sold out now) or in for repair at First Texas.

Dang!
I just air tested ours yesterday, (Its a gift for Grandpa, but I wanted to make sure it works)
Now, I dont know anything ,other than what I did yesterday, but

First, check batteries and the connection.
Then, Lower left on screen ,has battery power level arrow indicator, is it good?
Then swing a coin over the loop,
the preset button is the button you push to change the presets.
I am sure youve done all this , if youve read the manual.

Or just call Texas instr, and ask to talk to a tech.
They might have a way to reset the machine, that isnt in the manual. and maybe theyll talk you through it.

Or , you might have to send it in.
I would, as it would be worth it in my opinion. I really like the machine.
And its not like meijer can send you a new one to replace it.

Good luck, Sorry to hear your havin problems.
Dusty
