Deepest coin find with Exterra

Just got a 705. Curious what is the deepest dime found with the Exterra with stock coil and other coils

:clapping:

I still use the Xterra 70 for comp hunts, it pinpoints great and its light. You will have no problem hearing a dime 8 inches down. The Xterra and E-trac make a great team.

Xterra and Fisher single frequency detectors will out perform and dig really deep coins more than any FBS detector made, by using a second transmitter matching the same frequency and charging the ground with copper rods using 24 volts at the same frequency. Not all of us are confined by the FCC and single hand held units, we are talking another 5 inches of depth average. You cannot do it with an FBS detector or multi frequency detector.Your target ID will not work in most cases but it will sound good I found a 2 reale at measured 15 inches with 705 last fall charging the ground.705 is very good machine, but I like old Fisher 3D better.

Maybe we should try rigging some rods to 110 volt outlet and see how that works lol

What do you think your utility locator's are using each day in your location or home town,or how cathodic protection works. Most locator's go through extensive training they miss something people die or severe damage to utilities, you miss something it is just a coin. They locate in feet not inches and are paid between 50 to 100 thousand a year plus benefits.Large cities may lay off fireman, police, city workers, but the last to go will be the locator's.If you get a chance talk to one it will help you in your hobby.Your Etrac uses indirect method to locate. meaning it sends radio frequency through the ground with no connection and reads the imbalance/charge of the targets, the only problem is it has to compete with Ground interference. Now send that same signal down a connected rod (direct method) your dime at 15 inches may read like a silver dollar depending how much power you are using and the distance from the rod.

I run a generator at times and convert to DC and run not much higher than 4 amps at the desired matching frequency due to bridge effect going indirect or if using ground rods (direct method) gets rid of most bridging effect.Make no mistake it will bite you good if you remove the ground before removing transmission lead.Yes I like fishing and will pick up any worms that come to surface.DC is safer than AC.

Ever watch coils used by Meteor Hunters how much power do you think they are using to power those large homemade coils.Look at how think the wires are.

Ummmm...OK...I want to pack a generator on my back every time I go out in the field....yup...add another 100 pounds to my payload.
This has no relevance on Metal Detecting or the e-Trac.

HH,

6 inches or 60 feet you are still breaking your states one call laws my fellow law breakers.Look at Rigid Pipe Locator with infinite frequency selection,I think you guys could pick up 3 pounds and carry it around and it is in a nice bucket size package. As for relevance to the Etrac in will get you about 3 to 5 extra inches.GPR units are getting very good little pricey yet but will be phasing out FBS soon.I am am already catching a lot of grief for telling you guys this much.Enjoy your etrac I still have fond memories of my Garrett Ground Hog.
