Hi !
I've been out alot lately digging and found alot of coin also very old stuff. But my question goes like this. All the target where not deep at all.
I'm having a freind along with a bounty hunter and he could also here all the signals that i dug.
Does deep target sound very different from targets closer to the surface. My sens is at 19 and i'm runnig in factory coin mode with only adjustment made is on the threeshold.
Last question is the deep or fast mode when now of these is selected is it then normal hunt.
I have a 2 years exp. with the sov. But have to get use to what the Explorer is telling me.

Your Explorer will find goodies at a much greater depth than that bounty hunter, you probably just haven't passed the coil over a real deepie yet.
Deep targets do sound different, the GAIN setting controls the volume level based on depth. I set my Gain to (7), if you want you tell better a deepie from a surface then set your Gain around (5) and the difference will be more apparent. Be careful though because a Gain setting of (5) will mean the deepies are going to be a bit more quiet --that's why I like it set to (7).
Recovery mode has 4 settings, Deep; Fast; Deep & Fast both selected; and Deep & Fast both unselected. I would use either Deep or Fast alone because there are definite advantages in using them one at a time in the appropriate hunting conditions. By normal if you mean "in the middle" or average, then yes running with Deep & Fast unselected would be medium and as far as I know that is the same as running both selected.
Here is a link to my Charts page, at the top is a chart showing the various Recovery modes.

Peter, mitch forgot to mention sensitivity. When I first tried the explorer it was set in the factory coin mode and I wasn't impressed. I relic hunt and the places I go to have been pounded for 30 years. I run my sensitivity as high as I can for the conditions, mosto of the time it is on 32 or max. set at 19 I was getting a max depth bullet at 8 or 9 inches. At 32 I have gotton some down as far as 14" on ocasion. Andy Sabisch who wrote the book on the explorer swears he sets it to 32 then puts it in semi auto and lets the detector adjust the max depth automaticly. Happy hunting.
