Deep Silver Program

Hi All,
I was wondering if any of you had used the "Deep Silver Program" that is included with the V3. I live in a house that is over 100 years old and to my amazement, I haven't found anything remotely old. Now I know that there's a distinct possibility that 1) The previous owners have hunted and gotten most of the good stuff 2) it's so deep that I haven't hit upon it yet ( although I have hit some Lincolns (pre 1970) about 6-8" down or 3) since my house seems to have been built upon a dump site ( the amount of trash and crap I have found is pretty amazing) it's mixed somewhere amongst all the trash. So if any of you have used the program before or have one that works ( I'm currently using the C&J setting from the spreadsheet at the top of the forum) I'd love to hear about it. Thanks all for your time! :detecting:

All the programs work and can find silver. The deep silver program would be hard to use since you said there was a lot of trash. The deep silver program is a mixed mode program. The all metal would drive you nuts. It would sound like a machine gun. Also you didn't mention how much fill was put in the yard as the pennies are deep.

I think you would need to clean all the surface and shallow targets first to unmask the deeper targets if they are there. The deep silver would be used in a cleaner site. You could try a smaller coil to try to get between the junk. ????? I like a modified Hi Pro. Rob

Rob,
Thanks for the advice. I have no idea how much fill has been put on the lawn before I started living in the house. I do know that it's not unusual for me to find an old aluminum pie plate piece at 6-8". I recently dug what I think is a brass end cap from an old fuse that was down about the same depth, so I know that the V3 is picking up older targets at a decent depth. I'm sure that as I get more comfortable with the machine, and with a little luck, I'll hit upon something in the yard that's a decent age. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I'll keep you posted.

I feel your pain -- I have been hunting an apartment building built before 1900 and haven't even found a single wheat penny. The oldest thing I found was a cosmetic tin from the 1950's. It baffles me. But the only thing I can tell you is I don't think it's the V3's fault -- it punches plenty deep, and the D2 coil actually does a pretty good job of separating targets. I've found coins at absurd depths at other sites (an indian head penny over a foot down being the deepest yet). A smaller coil would definitely be worth a shot, but you won't find silver if it isn't there.

I was responding on your comment about all the trash. As you tey to see deeper and raise the rx you start to pickup more fringe targets around the coil. Also to see deeper as you raise the recovery delay it gets harder to get separation. At the school I dug an 8" 1984 penny at 8". Thats what fill will do. Rob
