"Deep Silver" program

Can someone explain what I should be listening and/or looking for in the deep silver mode? I briefly tried it at an older school today and Im not sure of what the detector was telling me.It seems to be an all metal program, but for the most part it seemed I was hearing the loud high pitched tones on iron targets and thats what the screen was also displaying.Every so often I heard what seemed to be a (for lack of a better term) muffled high pitched tone which was much quieter than the tones going off most of the time. But these "muffled" tones were very difficult to get them to repeat, most times I couldnt get them to repeat. Is this what I should be listening for?

Deep Silver is tweaked to give good response to good coin type objects deep. Accuracy of info/pinpointing on shallow targets is off base but starts clearing up with depth. Sweep speeds, recovery speeds and filtering are set for a slow coil movement... to allow more time for target information processing. Background threshold is set high... to be able to hear target response on the deepest of targets. (That is what gives it a "Mixed Mode" kind of feel.) VDI's are restricted to the upper end and sensitivities are set fairly aggressive. Works best in somewhat cleaner search environments and does PUNCH DEEP!

Listen for clear repeating, higher pitched sounds, that are "by themselves" . The high pitched, confirmed iron squeals, are coin like.... but do not repeat well with a cross sweep and fail to have a clean responding audio edge, when sweeping in towards the center of the iron "host" target, or none at all. On largish iron signals, you will notice that a coin like response, can be created around the outside of this iron's rebound halo in several spots. The bad signals never stand up to a cross sweep. If one squeal tries to...ratcheting the trigger clears enough rebound halo, to see if it is a good target at the edge of the iron mass. Hope this helps.

Pretty sure I found about 4 ounces/3 pieces of melted sterling (using just these methods) tonight! I really needed this as this whole site has been an iron pit from hell and EMI has been hitting hard with even the slightest increase in humidity. (Today was dry dry dry and signal degradation was limited to less than 10%) God I love this machine and it is funner than heck to learn! I'll post pics if it is silver. Going to test it at work tomorrow.
