Deep Coin & crosshair

While running in iron mask -6, I have hit a couple of deeper signals, when looking at the smart screen I notice that the crosshair is not in a desirable position (upper right corner), I have also switched to digital mode to read the numbers and it appears to match the smartscreen position. (I've dug a couple of these and they have been junk.) Is it possible that a deeper coin would give an incorrect position and sound on the smartscreen but in fact be worthwhile? Any experts shed some field experience...I'm not sure if I should keep digging these signals.

John,
Many of my deeper coins have showed up as iron on the crosshairs. One of the reasons is that the crosshairs will see the last target and if there is a nail or other item close to it it probably will read that.
I go by the audio mostly and if it is high pitched repeatable from more than one direction I will go to pinpoint and if the target dont move I will dig. I still get some rusty nails too on the questionable signals, but I would rather do that then leave a good coin.
