DEEEEP Indian

Went out the other day with a friend. It wasn't a particularly astounding hunt, just a great day to be out hunting, but there was one find I thought I'd share. Not for it's rarity but for how deep it was!

I got a solid signal that was mostly iron but occasionally would show a 12-33 to 12-35. I wasn't finding a whole lot at that point and I like those deep iffy signals anyways so I decided to go for it. About 5 inches down I pulled out a very large rusty nail. I was still getting a good hit with the carrot down in the hole so I scanned it again with the E-Trac. Again it showed 12-33 to 12-35 and the depth meter was almost buried at the bottom. I was glad I had a Raptor digger as it is awesome at cleaning out deep holes. At about the 10 inch mark I saw a green penny down in the hole. 1902 IHP. It wasn't in the best shape but I was impressed at how deep it was and that the E-Trac with the stock coil picked it out. Not only was it way deep but it had a nail sitting on top of it. I know my last CZ70 would not have touched that coin. We were both pretty amazed not only at how the E-Trac was able to hit on that one but also able to give an accurate TID on such a deep target. Awesome machine!

Way to stick with it. I had a hole like that a couple of weeks ago that I was about to give up on, since I had dug so deep, without anything but a large rusted bolt coming out. My ProPointer hadn't given me any indication of anything else in the hole, and that's where I was about to call it quits. When I re-scanned the hole with my Safari, it said there was still something down there that had "that" tone. At a good 10 inches, there was a 1939 s Washington Quarter waiting to see the light of day again. Can't wait to get my E-Trac back out to that site for it's first hunt...

Thanks HPH. Nothing better than seeing silver way down at the bottom of a deep hole. Congrats. Let us know how it turns out with the E-Trac hunt.

Cool find. those are the targets I always try and go after as it is a rush getting a real deep coin and knowing it is gonna be something very old before you dig it.

That Indian was deep. There is no telling how long it was down there. Are you still using the stock coil or something else.

I'm using the stock coil and running the sensitivity as high as the site will allow. Generally, have been able to run it at 25 at this park.

I know the feeling too!

Iffy targets are the name of the game at one of my sites, you have to "pay your dues" at some point with the deep small aluminum but every so often there will be a signal that kinda gives you a little lift - and you know it's going to be a coin!

Agree completely CZ. Not only digging the iffy targets but also the mid and low tones that most people pass up. Many of my best finds were the result of taking the time to dig those "trash signals".
