Found this saturday at a site that dates from 1895 to 1945... it measures 2.5 x 2.5 inches, its about an eighth inch thick ..backside is opposite of front as it was made by stamping method..there isnt any kind of evidence on rear that would indicate it was a belt plate .. there is a small mounting hole front center at top..any ideas what this is?[attachment 288468 20140414_1901361.jpg]
 
don't know what it is and can't see it very well but it also might look like aladdin's lamp. good luck.
