Decision time AT Pro or Gold...Please Chime In!!

Hi all, I am looking to purchase an AT Pro or Gold here soon and below are my thoughts... Also if anyone has a used Pro or Gold I would definitely be interested!

I have reviewed both AT Pro and Gold, Leaning towards the Gold because you can adjust the Threshold and you are not able to on the Pro. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Gold has true metal mode, Pro does not.

The other differences I see is that the Pro has 3 standard audio modes, but I am going to learn Pro mode only, so that doesn't matter to me.

And the Gold has the GB window, but that has not received the best reviews?

Pro has saltwater capability, but I'm by fresh, maybe get to salt 2-3x per year.

Also the Gold comes w the 5x8 so in my book they cost about the same as I would have to add this to the Pro. But will most likely upgrade the Gold to the 8x11 eventually.

Let me know your thoughts and if you think I am over looking something!

Thanks and HH!

Hi stelt, I used to have a Pro N went to a Gold 4R the threshold / all metal / it locks better on targets ,
I put it on a Plugger straight shafed , Yes I want to get the Bigger DD coil also,

I opted for the gold also...but my use is going to be for MOSTLY nugget hunting...I might have even gone with a different detector except for the waterproofing. Mine is due to be delivered tomorrow, so this weekend will be spent getting familiar with its operation. The only thing I wish the AT series had, was a deeper waterproof rating...

gold for me :detecting:
gos anywhere & hunts it all

Overall, I hear the AT Gold is better; however, I own the AT Pro. I rarely hunt salt water beaches, but I like the fact one can do so with the Pro.

Thanks for all of the replies!!. Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation on the adjustable Threshold is needed or a big upgrade? Also what are your feelings on the True Metal mode?

Threshold can tell you things. It can tell you that you just ran over a very deep or very small target. Sometimes all you get is a blip in the threshold.
It can tell you that the ground is changing in minerals.
It can tell you that the detector sensitivity is not right.
It can tell you that you ran over a rejected target by blanking.

True all metal mode is not filtered and should give you the full detection ability of a detector. Another tool in the tool box. Not to be used all the time, but it sure can have it's place especially in nugget hunting.

This is my Plugger set up , I have a AT-Gold now!!!!! Like it a lot!!!!!! mickfin
