I am trying to find a good water unit that I can use now in sand, and salt water, but in the future use on land as well. The problem is that they are different technologies and I do not really understand the pro's and con's of each.

Please help, and information would be great,
CaribbeanGecko

You didn't say what part of the country you would be using the detector. It makes a difference. Rob

I am living in the caribbean, St. Maarten. I will be here for two years then I am not sure where I will be in the states. I am mostly concerned about the time I will be here and something that will do a good job of finding treasure here.

Thanks for your help,
Justin

This is a link to manuals for the various detectors. I don't know if you mean a surfmaster II which is a VLF like the beachhunter or the surfmaster PI.

The Beachhunter is not taught highly of on the west coast or in the highly mineralized mountain fresh water lakes. It seems to do well in Florida. The surfmaster II manual says it will not do that well in blacksand or mineralized beaches. Rob
