wow nice goin ,i am not really sure i like the mxt over silent search idx pro, it takes some getting used to ,but what i have read of the mxt most people don't put them away once they get used to them. i am at present most comfortable with the idx pro_Of course after my one good gold find the idx will be a backup..

I beach hunt a lot, so I use a Excalibur usually. You can't go wrong with the Mxt though. It has found me quite a bit of goodies. Last year alone the Mxt paid for itself and my Excal, not to mention the Excal paid for itself in the first week ($1500 mans gold and 5 diamond wedding band). I am very fortunate have the hunting grounds that I do, so I try to take advantage of it. I figured this week I would search some of the more trashy areas on the beach and the Mxt is much better at this type of hunting. This is the second piece of gold it found this week.

Fantastic find! Do you know the weight of the pendent? I bet there's a gold chain very close by. Thanks for sharing and HH, Nancy

It weighs just at 7 grams. Pretty heavy for a pendent. Believe me when I found it and realized the charm wasn't broke, I was thinking the same thing.....the chain should be close, real close since I was in the dry sand at the beach. I looked and looked and looked. No chain. I bet it was nice though. I am thinking the chain broke. The pendent slid off and disappeared in the sand. They may have felt the chain break and grabbed it before it came from around the neck, or it hit the sand and some of it was above the sand still. Who knows? I checked the phone book when I got home. There are 32 "Forbes" listed. So here is the question for all of you....What would you do??? Are you going to possible make 32 phone calls asking if someone lost a pendent? Or are you going to send it to Aragold? I'm thinking it is going to the refinery....I am however still researching the "Mother's ring" though. I really would like to get that one back.

It seems the threshold hum of the MXT versus silent search is often mentioned. As a clarification I'd like to point out that it only needs to be set just a touch above silent. Once your used to that you miss it on silent search machines, at least I do as the background hum shows it's working when I'm on a long stretch with 0 targets. Also, it may be useful occasionally to be aware that whenever it nulls out it means the coil is over a target that is under the discrimination setting. Hope this is helpful.

Yes, it's a nice heavy pendant. I just checked the current gold price and the pendant is worth 186.64 USD just for scrap. That's a possibility about your theory on the chain. The chain would ring up in the negative numbers more than likely unless the link size is very large. Never describe what you found to anyone when asking if they lost it. You'll have 32 people saying, "YES, it's mine". Instead, say you found a piece of jewelry and see if they know what it is. I sure hope you come across the mother of the ring. She's got to be sick about loosing it. HH and keep us posted, Nancy
