Decided to let the Tejon go

Well-known member
after trying this machine i realized it needs two ground balance options yu can't use the GB in both all metal and disc it has to be changed . also it just is not hot on high conductors. struggles to hit my 6" dime but on gold brass its pretty hot so the only Tesoro i will keep is the silver umax was nice to try the T the all metal is fairly good having two modes it will find anything in the ground I will miss that

Strange about the Tejon not hitting a dime past 6". Different soil I guess. Mine will readily hit one at a solid 8" and my 6" dime on edge. Almost completely vertical.
That is with disc.set on tabs.

Does your Silver hit deeper on dimes?

my silver micro max with GB hits the dime better than the Tejon, I had some reservations about the 17.5 kHz because i remember my gold bug did the same thing but on nickels and brass it hits hard and especially gold rings

That's interesting. I feel the same way about my cibola. Wish I would've got a silver instead

The silver is a good machine. I liked mine. I let it go after I noticed how unsensitive it was to small jewelry, a good thing in some ways, it also didn't see a lot of the other tiny crapola. I was very reluctant to try another 10khz machine, but glad I did. Hopefully if/when the Caz comes out it has the best of all worlds.

I'm curious now, can your Silver umax pick up an open hoop earring? Or clasp on gold chain in all metal?
I think the silver has the best audio of all current machines Tesoro makes.

I agree that the higher freq.of the Tejon does hamper its performance on higher conductors some but to say that it will not hit a dime at 6" inches is not correct and will lead the unknowing to believe so.

As far as the Gold Bug goes the very first merc.dime I ever dug was with the GB and it was on edge and almost as deep as my ProPointer is long.

Not trying to be argumentative just stating facts.

pretty hard to blanket statement about depth of any machine lots of factors come in to play, I had a tejon it was pretty good but its gone there are better Tesoro's for the hunting I use them for.

one thing I know for sure no one detector finds it all and that's just how it is.

I have to say I'm shocked! I was even considering one.

and when i sell it i will declare this in my opinion its a gold machine it likes gold and brass - my ground is also mineralized many machines struggle on the 6" dime I can tune it in with the Tejon but its so much work i just don't like that I have been spoiled with the bliss tool and i found that the 5x10 gets about 1" less depth but has better coverage kinda a trad off but if I can't get 400 for the T i may just keep it as an specialty machine for gold and brass- some say it falser on Iron i found it to I,D Iron very well and hit on good targets with a high accuracy. again i was thinking it was a deep machine its not - I would say medium depth excellent I D on targets thump7 I have not tried the silver on a half hoop earring but the silver with the GB mode is a keeper I hope i don't get kicked off the forum for saying this but Tesoro leaves one thing or two off every machine that greatly reduces its capacity to per for better lets hope the Caz brings all together i may buy one

In the UK the Tejon was called the 'Animal' as it loved our silver hammered coins i guess mainly due to the high freq, not so popular in recent years but still a very good machine.

At the risk at getting shot and shunned on this forum, will say as much as I liked the Tesoros. I like my new beep and dig much better than any Tesoro I have owned.
Tesoro better have some good machine in the Caz before I get another. It better come out before it becomes old technology......................
If your not a dedicated Tesoro owner and or who is willing to look outside the Tesoro religion, there's some really great beep and digs being made outside the US right now.
Just too bad there's no dealership in N. America, bet if there was, Tesoro fans would see the new light and walk towards it. Your Tesoro may not be your first go to machine.
You may pay a bit more for them but, they are worth it.

Has to be the ground where you are, because where i live the Tejon is deeeeep!! i have always been told that the Tejon in bad ground you need to power balnce it to get the depth.I have been told that the bliss tool was the deepest VLF metal detector out there have no idea if it is the truth or not. and my Tejon will hit my 8 inc dime test bed with no problems

So I assume that you will enlighten the masses on the metal detecting forum.
Looking forward to your reply there.

So true.
I truly hope Tesoro's new machine(s) are everything one could hope for in a detector.
It's been a long waiting game...

Gunnar, must admit i am sitting on 3 Tesoro based machines that will never be used again, although i said i will never sell them, during the week i may make the decision to finally sell them, its a shame but as i have mentioned a few times, although they are 'reasonably' good on certain sites, they are antiquated and they have not moved with the times and i feel a mass migration has started from the 'Loyals'.

May keep my Silver Sabre 11 with a small coil for some Thames Mudlarking,as those machines are the best with the 4'' coil on the trashy foreshore.

Gunnar, on your ad why don't you omit all the negative talk about your particular machine? There's probably probably nothing wrong with it beyond correctly GB it to your bad soil to the extent possible. No need to talk yourself out of a sale, in the name of full disclosure, you don't owe that much. Just trying to help

No I am an honest person I want whoever buys it to really know what to expect. It looks like it will not sell and i will be keeping it and use it it has two powerful all metal modes I can put it to use , and it will probably do well on a sideline looking for gold

didn't say you where not honest

my F19 doesn't go as deep as my ctx and its not meant to its just how differing machines are doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it , I had a tejon nice machine on zinc penny and lower, hits silver in the right conditions that are not so deep, but its a higher kHz machine , not going to hit silver as hard as say an omega which has vanished from my list.

so wasn't questioning your integrity just saying all machines are not made equal and people do research on machines before they buy.

only reason I sold mine was I got sick of charging 8 battery's and shoving them in there, like the 9 volts I can be putting the battery I n as I am walking out the door :clapping:

so yep good gold hunter otherwise !
