Decided to ask this on metal detecting forum......... VX3 related

Will you VX3 users tell me about your experience please..

Likes, don't likes, operation ... Simple, easy........... In general feelings about the VX3 would be greatly appreciated...

I have a chance to get one.... I would like a bit more info from people that have the unit now... Thank you.....

Just get it and try it Elton. You are the only one who would know if it is right for you.

Thank you Sir...appreciate your response...

:detecting::detecting:Hello Elton,I gave the VX3 a one year trial run but found it difficult to adjust being that my comfort with a CZ5 is hard to overcome.I did have some good finds with the VX3. the VX3 was just to slow for me.You can adjust the VX3's recovery delay to make it faster, but below 30 the audio gets a little choppy. My VX3 had the concentric coil 950 .if you have a faster swing speed you might opt for the 12filter rather than the5 filter which is default .also I think the10DD or 6x10 DD would be a better coil choice for the VX3. Hi Elton, i had the VX3 for about a year and a half, i recently traded it for a V3i, the only reason i traded was the tones, i want more than 1 tone but i don't want 191, as far as performance i've only had a couple short hunts with the V3i and i can't really tell any difference in performance between the VX3 and V3i. So if you didn't really like the performance of the V3i you probably won't like the VX3 either, but only you can determine that. The program settings for the VX3 is simpler to use i think, at least it seems that way so far. Good luck in your decision.

I seemed to have a lot of problem with the filters.... That caused depth performance issues with the V3i..........and unstable operation..
I guess I was hoping with less filter choices Whites had internally improved the settings that were available on the VX3.. and the settings were better as far as Filtering...

I think that would be a great thing if that was the case Elton, but my guess is they just eliminated some filters. but what do i know?

No Elton, the VX3 and the V3i are the same machine, the VX3 just has a simpler user interface. I thought I covered this before on the V forum

The choice of filters should not cause unstable operation. The right filter for your style of hunting and your ground will give you a little more depth.

Unstable operation is almost always user error unless the detector is defective.

I know your one of the experts as far as V3i operation goes.... So noted..and I appreciate your response...

I was hoping the internal adjustments made by factory compensated as less ( Filters) were available.. through the processor I think would be what I had hoped for..

I may have had a faulty unit............ with so many settings and adjustments available on the V3i ..For a non experienced operator ( Me) it would be hard to know that.

I kinda figured I just wasn't setting up the unit properly, and every adjustment on filters made it worse on depth in my dirt..

I can assure you and everyone else this is not a slam the V3i unit post.. It is a quest to find a similar unit that I can use and operate it correctly. I loved many, of the features on the V3i.. I wasn't getting satisfactory depth in my soil was my only issue and I truly thought it was filter related.

The VX3 is a V3i with limited access to all features. The VX3 still has 8 filters but only 2 of them are on the menu and so forth..........................

The VX3 was developed for stability and simplicity at the expense of versatility and maximum obtainable depth.

Here is a chart showing what you lose when you choose a VX3 over a V3i.

Thank you for that info ........... Appreciate it Larry...

OK all have my answers.Thanks..........

Hey Elton,if you have any more thoughts or questions about the VX3 I would be glad to help. I do have more specific info about that detector HH Tony

I bet that you have already tried the V3i. If so, the VX3 will blow your dress up even less. This all assumes you are the "Elton" I assume that you are.

nope no dress here to blow up LOL.... so I might be a different Elton ..........
