First of all Lynn at Detector Depot gave me a GREAT deal- give him a call.

I decided to get rid of my explorer ( will be buying an E-trac next year). I wanted a faster/lighter detector to field hunt with. I was thinking of getting all 3 coils for the F70: the F75 coil, and the small 3x6 fisher coil. I just wanted to make sure that each coil would serve a purpose ( I was actually thinking that the stock F70 coil would not really be used much). Does the small coil work well in trashy areas?
Also about the sunray probe, I have one on my Explorer and love it! But it does add weight and throws off the balance a bit. Lynn recommended one of the two new pinpointers (the Garett or the Pistolprobe). What are your thoughts?

Thanks a lot and look forward to being a fisher user soon!

I think the DD coil is the best all around coil of all the choices. Deep and great in trash......the one I use 90% of the time.

I agree with Bill.

Just got the 6 incher and the DD a couple of days ago.

The DD coil is excellent in moderately trashy areas.

I recently started using the 6 inch in extremely trashy areas and in real heavy brush. Some of the yuppie soccer mom parks have tons of trash and so far I like the 6 incher for those areas. I was out today with the 6 inch in a wooded area and the 6 inch really did well. A lot easier to swing than the DD coil.

The F-70 acts like a different detector when using the DD coil instead of the standard 10 concentric that comes with the F-70. I just feel more in tune with it or have more confidence with the F-70 when using the 11 inch DD coil. Not too sure if the 11 DD is deeper than the 10 inch concentric. I might have to do some testing to figure that out.

I am new to the F-70 and am trying to figure out what to use where.

Maybe someone already has done testing of the coil choices?

I also will be getting an E-Trac soon. I will be keeping the F-70 because I found it to be a very fast, very light, very easy to use machine that can also go very deep when conditions are right. Perfect for scanning large open areas quickly.
