Decided Not To Go Hunt Last Night Due To Storms, But...

...the sea was calling me. And my Excalibur. After all, it's waterproof...what's a little rain?

Well, it was a LOT of rain and some lightning. And I ended up getting soaked and nearly drying out again before it was over. But the targets were many and the digging endless. I wound up hunting for about 4.5 hours, from 9 PM until about 1:30...for the 10 PM low tide, so the tide was WELL on it's way back in by the time I pulled the plug.

Anyway, going down there was a good decision. And one of the main reasons I got the Excal over the Sovereign Elite I was using last summer was because we had so many rain days last summer...I figured rain won't stop me any more now. Lightning will though, and I had to take refuge under the pier for almost half an hour at one point. But it was a good hunt. Lots of beach erosion going on down there too!

Pics of the final take...2 silvers and 2 golds...10K and 22K:

Hello,

Nice finds Mike! Glad you endured the weather. I am impressed! :yo:

You brought "Presentation/Merchandising" to a new level with the addition of the bandanna! I'll give you a "9" (would be "10", if the bandanna had "Harley Davidson" on it!

Well, the one he's holding in his hands is 10K and the stone is either Amber or Citrine, it looks like. My wife likes that one. The gaudy looking one around his head is stamped 22K and that stone is maybe Zircon or Beryl. I'm looking at charts I found in google doing a search for "gemstone charts", because I sure don't know this stuff. The thin ring with all the stones is silver and I'm sure the stones are fake. I had high hopes for the heart pendant because it sounded like gold on my Excal, due to the thin construction, but it's marked 925, so I'm thinking the stones are CZ's or glass. But it looks nice and my daughter is the silver fan of the house and it will likely end up on the end of a silver chain I bought her previously.

I tried to get some better pics...here they are.

LOL! Thanks man. I won't sully my reputation with you by telling you I have an affinity for Kawasaki 4-bangers. (Oops!) I've had a couple of tricked-up KZ-650's and a GPz 1100. Don't have anything right now. I'm also partial to the Shadow 1100...Harley looks and Jap reliability and performance. But hey, I'll defend to my death your right to have oil stains on your garage floor, because you're buying American! Until you take your speedo off and flip it over and see that it says "Nippon Denso" on the bottom, just like mine.

I was almost to the pier when it started and there were a couple of strikes that were pretty bright...I went from a slow, even sweep to a light jog as I make a beeline for the cover of the pier. The whole time the lightning is getting closer, the rain coming down in buckets, and I'm trying to slow down to check signals. Which I gave up on and ultimately ran for the pier. I had a vision of me laying out there with smoke coming out of my ears for a pocketful of change and a few rings. Actually, had to give that one some thought...ultimately decided I WASN'T willing to die for a ring, but it was a tough choice! It was exciting, though. I knew it was time to take a break though because of some of the wild tones and stuff the Excal was making when the lightning would hit. I was actually getting falses when the lightning would flash in the distance and it got more pronounced as it got closer. Wild!

Other than a chattering foreign speaking 'bobbing head" saying something, hopefully nice, to you?
Just wondering. nice finds.

Well, I'm sure the reward probably wouldn't be more than the $2 it would cost the rental agency to make another key, right? And I wouldn't be able to find the customer. I did a Google search for the company and there is one in Portsmouth, VA...a couple of cities over from me. I might call them. Or I could go look for the car...I'm a "Ford guy"...got 3 of 'em! :D

I wouldn't think it would be more than the $2 it would take to replace the key, right? I did a Google search and there is ONE U-Save over in Portsmouth, VA...about a half hour from me. I might call 'em. Or I could go look for the car...I'm a "Ford guy"! :D

Cool...glad to hear that. I would be in deep depression right now without a machine Good luck out there. I think you'll find the beach pleasantly loaded with targets. Anybody who can't find something good down there right now, I would have to doubt their ability to "get lucky" in a house of ill-repute!

Have you given any more thought to getting another machine for a backup?

I guess there's worst ways to go than doing something ya enjoy :inlove:

Mike, your living in the past! Oil stains? Come-on, that went away with AMF! You "metric heads" just don't understand! Ha! Harley is a "way of life", not just a ride! Tickles me when I hear all that stuff about how much y'all like the "metric" bikes, but I haven't seen to many of you with Kawasaki tattoos! I get my "fill" of the "metric" bikes down here during Memorial Day Weekend!
:beers:
