Decent older models

Hello all. Just joined and would like your suggestions on which older Whites models would be a decent upgrade from a Coinmaster 1DB I've had for 3-4 yrs that I gave $20 for. Just got back to work after 13 month lay-off so got a good hole to dig out of 1st but always on the lookout for a bargain. Been watching e-bay and looking at at the 6000/D & Di Pro's series 2&3's. Any others I should watch for? Mod's for old models? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Analoge metered White's

Just a few to peak your interest: 6000 Pro XL or XL Pro (same detector, autotrack G/B) an excellent model from White's, with lighter control box and slide in AA Bat. pack. Or the last of the 5900 Di Pro SL (CB) version, with the larger control box and D cell Bat. pack with manual G/B. On my 6000 Pro XL I have the Bill Lahr/ Marand 4 tone audio modification and really like it.

And I wouldn't take $500 for my 6000 Di Pro SL if I couldn't get another one!

5900/6000 Di Pro SL. They do have the larger housing and use 4-C cell batteries and are a bit heavier and less balanced, but the performance is there. I'd try to find CB version (their last revision).

Better still, I'd look for a 6000 Pro XL or renamed XL Pro (same detector as 'Hombre' posted), or a Classic ID or IDX Pro that had 'Mr. Bill' Crabtree's modifications or I'd have them done. If you don't want target ID, then a modified Classic III SL. Those are about the only "older" models I'd spend any money on.

PS: Pick any of these up and get a 6

You also might want to watch for an Eagle II SL 90. One heck of a machine. I just picked another one up for $175.00

IDX's QXT's

I understand parts for an Eagle S/L are limited and thats to be taken into consideration but a friend of mine just had one repaired so imagine certain parts might be more accurate...

I have the V3I but for kicks picked up a coinmaster IV TR on ebay for 60 bucks ... it was the first detector i ever had. Im thinking of trying to have an antique hunt with older detectors.

Kinda like hunting with a musket

XL PRO is the best White's I've ever owned. No programing to do just set it up and start detecting:detecting:

Since I now own 7 detectors and have owned 9 others The most shocking of them all was the QXT,(Quantum XT). I own two Fisher CZ's and love them dearly, a QXT was built to compete with them in pure raw depth the qxt rocks with it's stock 950 coil. There are things I prefer in other machines, and that's because all machines do some things others don't I still rate this QXT very highly, and I still use it because it can do things other can't. Do a search for detector reviews and you can still find my review as the best review of them all. You can get the pretty cheap now I like them better than an XLT, 6000, 5900, MXT, and all of those are great machines too, and I would use any of them. My review will show up under garyw.
