I got an X-Terra 50 for Christmas (my first detector) and am interested in getting the HF coil to try to find some gold chains as well as nuggets. What are the advantages of the DD over the concentric coil? Is one better than the other?

HF DD for:

1. Trashy locations.
2. Hot ground(heavy minerals, Prospecting).
3. Saltwater beach, wet & damp sand.
4. Heavy ground cover, lots of obstacles(will fit into smaller spaces).

Concentric for:

1. Most normal hunting(a little more sensitive).
2. Easier when freshwater wading(the DD floats, Concen doesn't).
3. Saltwater beach dry sand work.
