dead cat

the night before last i went outside on the patio to get a coke that i keep in a spare refrigerator i keep out there, and to also bring the cat food in so the coons and possums wouldn't eat it.i try and discourage them from making this a stop on their nightly rounds.

well there was another cat out there kind of hunched over and he looked kind of boogered up,and he also stank.
i came back in with my coke and picked up a newspaper and swatted him on the butt to get him to leave, and he just growled a little and hobbled around to the front of the house and i followed and he crawled up under an azalea bush and hid in there.

i figured he might be a neighbors cat or at least somebody's in the area so i left him alone.i went out yesterday morning and looked in the azalea bush and he was gone,so i figured he had probably hobbled home.

well i went out this afternoon to get another coke, next to the refrigerator i keep extra 12 packs of cokes.i noticed a rank dead kind of smell and started looking around, then i looked next to the refrigerator and that dang cat's head was sticking out and the flies were a buzzing.

that stinkin' cat, literally had up and died underneath my refrigeratior.it's only about three inches off the concrete and how he got under there i don't know.

i heard a little racket last night and thought that maybe another animal tried to drag him out but since you hear noises around here alot i didn't think much about it then.

well i got a shovel out and lifted his head up and took some bailing twine and mage a noose and slipped it around his head and drug him out a buried it.man just what i needed today:D,to bury a dead cat.

every once and a while i'll find a dead squirrel and will bury it.the last time i did another animal dug it up and left the hole there.this time i tried some thing different.

after i dug the hole,i filled the hole back up half way and sprinkled some black pepper on top, then i filled up the hole all the way and sprinkled more black pepper on top.do you folks think that will work?i put dead cat in a plastic trash bag, hope it helped.

i walk through this area everyday or i could care less if some other animal dug it up,and because with all the packed iron ore rock on this place findind a good place to dig is rough.

i think dead cat belonged to someone around here and got clipped out here on the hiway and just couldn't hobble back home, just wished he would have died somewhere else,at least not under my spare refrigerator.

One mounted on each side of the fireplace!!!
I know what your talking about...I use to live in the country, and cats were ALWAYS wandering up!!! You do know Sunny is going to hammer us Texas boys!!!
Fred...you might as well join in!!!

probably scared to death, and your cat was probably his friend! :( You went to an awful lot of trouble, but it's nice to know you did! I think the black pepper thing was a good idea. Would make another animal think twice! :)

I have a cat too, but she stays outside, and is worth her weight in gold when it comes to killing mice and field rats. Only thing is, she leaves her "Trophies" at my back door for my approval. You never know what will be there. We have had the above, squirrels, rabbits, and even once had a snake. :surprised:

the old cat here will leave rat innards by the back door, the part she doesn't like.she's an outdoor cat too, she's about 16.think she's slowing down, not to many presents left lately.

the city, where i'm at there's just about as much noise.the hiway plus the thumping stereo's.then there's the occasional truck tire blow out.don't mind those two much except that they leave metal cords from the tires where i mow and if you miss picking them up before you mow their hard on your mower and blades.
