DD Shooter coil vs 5.3 coil?

Hello All:
Can anyone tell me what the differences are from a Eclipse DD shooter 3 x 6 and a 5.3 coil? What is the use of each as it seems to me the are very similar?
Thanks,
Joel

I'm a new MXT owner and a fairly new reader of this forum. But I suggest you search the old posts as I believe your question has been asked and answered. There is an unbelievable amount of info in the old posts.

handle extreme mineralization better than the concentric coil. While the 5.3 is good in trashy areas, the DD is even better because of the coil configuration. As white's says "extreme trash". Also groud coverage is better with the DD since the coil "sees" front to back, straight down, instead of the U shape/V shape of the detection pattern of the
concentric. With all that said, if your soil is average and the trash is not bad, either will work for you. Have fun and happy hunting, Richard

... the only things that I would add is that not only is the ground coverage better with the DD, but especially so, at depth. Also, the DD configuration rejects iron somewhat better than the concentric style coils. Sales of the "6x4 Shooter" (actually 6.75" x 3.5") VASTLY outnumber sales of the the 5.3 (which actually measures 6.5"). The overwhelming majority of users will find the 6x4 the better choice. Hope this helps; HH jim

If your a book worm I guess thats the thing to do. What is a forum for if not for asking questions and talking to one another. I've been down that archive route. Researching just is not for me, I'd rather reach out and touch someone's.

Sorry, I've read many old posts. I am not the first one to suggest that many questions have been asked and answered already. To me it's very simple to click on search, type in whatever I'd like to know about and read the posts that pop up. Not that hard, and I can barely spell computre .
I just assumed, I guess wrongly, that the old MXT pro's might get tired of answering the same questions over and over.
I'll just shut up for now on. I wish all of you good luck in all your future endeavors.
