DD coils for the XL Pro ?

Hello everyone,

Hate to bring up and rehash an old question but, is there any round or elliptal DD coils out there that I can use with my XL Pro?

Are these harder to find these day's?

Thanks,

TC-NM

White's offers the Blue Max 4x6 Shooter for the 6.59 kHz series. Well, I should say they use to make them and some dealers still have them. To be honest, I've owned 4 or 5 of them and never had one I considered a "keeper" coil. The reason I went through that many was because I had hopes of getting one that would hit a coin at more than 3 inches deep. I never did. JMHO HH Randy

Thanks Digger,

But is there any aftermarket DD round or elliptical coils out there that you can remember also? It seems that Whites made a bunch of DD's for the DFX, M6, MXT and so forth. Maybe it came to "timing" when the end came to the XL Pro's production and DD's weren't available at the time.

Now Whites new Spectra V3 comes standard equip. with a 10 inch DD and so does other manuf. carry DD's too.

I don't really like the 4 x 6 shooter either. I like to see a 6 x 10 size and get a depth of 8-10 inches max. Wouldn't you agree?

I'd agree that the 6X10 elliptical DD at 6.59 kHz would be a nice addition. But I wouldn't hold my breath on any future coils at this freq. Back in the day, White's had several models that shared this frequency. Classic III, 6000 series, ID series, Quantum series, XLT series and the XLPro. The XLT series is the only one that is still being manufactured, with the XLPro going away in 2005 and the others prior to that. With just one detector model using this frequency, and considering many of their other models share coils, I can't see anyone producing 6.59 coils. For the record, the MXT and DFX were being manufactured at the same time as many of the 6.59 series were being made. So it wasn't like White's didn't have access to the coil shells. I'd guess it just wasn't in their market forecast?

I can't say I've heard of a larger DD coil than the BlueMax shooter. But I know Jimmy Sierra handled some aftermarket coils, as did Kellyco. Neither manufacturing their own. (Big Foot, Hot Foot, Hot Shot, Hot Head, Ferret etc.) I also remember there being a Bounty Hunter series that was something like 6.6 kHz. Some folks found them to work well on their 6.59 kHz units, but I've not tested one myself. It would be a simple solution to make an adapter plug of sorts, to allow the BH coil to work on your White's. Just a matter of matching up the Xmt and Rcv pairs. But again, I can't say whether there is a DD version or not.

If you learn of any that work and are still available, let the rest of us know! Thanks. HH Randy

I'll send you information that maybe helpful:biggrin:

Blue Max "Shooter" coil and, like him, I never had one that performed anywhere near to the results I get with the Prizm Shooter or Eclipse Shooter coils.

I don't know of any factory-produced Double-D coils larger than that .... by White's or anyone else.

Personally, I have used some coils attempted for these 6.59 kHz models that were just terrible performers. In the end, I found the 6

Thanks to everyones comments, maybe the sign of the times. . . As was previously mentioned, the production ended in 2005 for the XL Pro. There are aftermarket coils being made now, but not in the 6.592 kHz. freq. OH WELL.
