DD Coil

I just received a new coil from Kelly co and found I had a little problem with the plastic screw and cap it seems that the ears on this coil are thicker is there a longer screw and cap I can get or can i file down the ears?

Thanks Butch

Are you talking about an Excelerator coil? If you are I have noticed that with mine, but the Whites bolt will work, its just a little short but works just fine. I have been using the short bolt for all my Excelerator coils with no problems. There are longer bolts out there but I don't know where to get them. HH Dennis in Idaho

yes this is the coil i am talking and the short bolt but you say it works ok then so be it. I was thinking about going and getting the plastic bolts they have at home depot as someone said thanks for the info HH

I had the same problem but the short bolt has been working just fine, it has yet to back off.....

I forgot the bolt is a little short. I've never had one come loose and I have the 5, 8 and 10 inch. Don't file the ears. JW just sent me a 6" to test in Texas, I'll mount it later today. Rob

Rob, you will love the 6" DD Excelerator. HH Dennis in Idaho

[size=medium]Rob, the 6" Excelerator coil is quite a performer. I'm pretty sure you have much mellower ground in Texas than I have and a concentric coil ought to work fine. Still, he 6" DD has some strong points. I look forward to reading your posts after you've had a chance to put it to use.

Monte, I live in Illinois and the DD's work well in our ground. I go to Texas for the winter and asked JW to let me test the 6" there. I used the 5' in Texas with great success but I wanted a coil with a little more coverage. I already like the thin solid design. I've got a BM 600 on a Mr. Bill IDX and it does a good job here in Illinois. Rob

I just mounted the 6" excelerator today. The bolt hole was perfect and the bolt the correct length. No modifications were needed. The bolt is a little short for the 10" but it has stayed in place all summer. Rob

Yes but that 10" excelerator really does well on the soccer fields down there. HH Rob

I'm running the stock bolt on the 10", yes it doesn't thread all the way into the nut. I've had it on all summer and as I said it has never loosened up. If I was worried a drop of Locktite would solve any problems. Good luck Fred. Rob
